A group of mysterious figures caused a stir in the crowd at Bayern Munich's clash with Hertha Berlin at the Allianz Arena on Saturday.

The 11 unknown men, each dressed in black robes and sat in a line, were spotted making strange synchronised gestures during the league match, which Bayern won 3-2.

Poor Healthcare System In Nigeria Causes Short Life Span – Ajimobi

The Oyo state governor, Abiola Ajimobi has said that lack of adequate attention for primary and secondary healthcare systems has resulted in disheartening statistics of life expectancy, infant mortality and other preventable diseases.
He said this while speaking at the 8th Biennial Conference of the Medical and Dental Consultants’ Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), which was themed ‘Reviving primary and secondary healthcare delivery in Nigeria’.

A 400-level student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka Anambra, was arrested this week at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu State, for ingesting 25 wraps of male condoms filled with cocaine.

32 year old Chizoba Nwabuwa arrived aboard an Ethiopian Airline flight from Brazil when he tested positive to liquid cocaine, which weighed 1.250kg. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency officials say this is the first drug seizure to be made at the newly refurbished international airport.

Nigeria Ranked 36th In Latest FIFA Rankings

 

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have dropped one spot on the latest rankings for football playing nation released by FIFA.

Nigeria is now ranked 36th in the world but retained its 5th position on the continent.
The elephants of Cote d’Ivoire are the best team in Africa despite dropping one spot to become 19th in the world.
Ghana are in second on the continent followed by the desert foxes of Algeria who climbed up six spots and are now 28th in the world  while the Eagles of Mali are in fifth position.
Cape Verde Islands, Tunisia, Egypt, Burkina Faso and Cameroun make up the African top 10 in that order.

Niger Delta activist, Asari Dokubo, on Politics Today hinted that the former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo has been a clog in the wheel of the progress of the Jonathan administration.
Dokubo said that Obasanjo has always said that the President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan should not run for the 2015 election, that the former president backed the idea of a Northern politician be put in place as the flag bearer of the PDP come 2015, while the Rivers state governor, Chibuike Amaechi, who is now in the Baraje-led PDP faction be his running mate

FG approves 5-year jail term and N200, 000 fine for exam cheats

The minister of Education, Prof Ruqayyat Rufai, announced yesterday that students caught from now on cheating during exams will face a five year jail term or N200,000 fine or both.

This decision was reached during the Federal Executive Council weekly meeting that held in Abuja yesterday. The new law states in part...

“(Any candidate caught cheating) shall not take or be allowed to take or continue the examination; in addition, he shall be prohibited from taking any examination held or conducted by or on behalf of the Council for a period of two years immediately following upon such contraventions. If a candidate aforesaid has already taken any papers at the examination, his result therefrom shall be cancelled. In addition, the candidate may be prosecuted and if found guilty, shall be liable on conviction to a fine of N200, 000 or imprisonment for a term of five years or to both such fine and imprisonment.”

Car Kills 15 Youths In Early Morning Accident

An early morning routine exercise by some youths in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau state, north central Nigeria became tragic as 15 of them were crushed to death by a commercial vehicle.

The accident, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, left several other youths injured and are receiving treatment at the Barkin Ladi General Hospital.

Eyewitness account says that the station wagon Peugeot car swerved off the road and ran into the group of 40 who were jogging.

A new watch on Kickstarter is designed to help wearers — including the blind and visually impaired — tell time through touch rather than sight.

Instead of traditional watch hands, time on "The Bradley" is indicated by two ball bearings: one on the top denoting minutes, and another on the side denoting hours. Here's how it works, as explained on Kickstarter:

"These two ball bearings are connected, with magnets, to a watch movement beneath the watch face.The magnets make it so that even if the ball bearings are moved when touched, they spring back to the correct time with a gentle shake of your wrist."

Jennifer Lopez: I was homeless

(CNN) -- Jennifer Lopez was "homeless" just months before she had her big break.

The 43-year-old superstar was cast as a Fly Girl dancer on the sketch comedy show "In Living Color" in 1991. But before she took on her first major gig in Hollywood, Lopez reveals she was living rough.

Lopez and her mother often argued about the life decisions she made, but the star couldn't help but live out her dreams.

"My mom and I butted heads. I didn't want to go to college -- I wanted to try dance full-time," she explained to W magazine.

"So she and I had a break. I started sleeping on the sofa in the dance studio. I was homeless, but I told her, 'This is what I have to do.' A few months later, I landed a job dancing in Europe. When I got back, I booked 'In Living Color.' I became a Fly Girl and moved to L.A. It all happened in a year."

The Texas teen facing a felony terrorism charge over an alleged threat on Facebook has been released on bail after an anonymous donor posted a $500,000 bond.

Justin Carter, 19, had spent five months in prison for posting, during an argument about a video game, what he said was a sarcastic comment about how he was going to "shoot up a kindergarten."

"I just think it got taken out of context, and it's been blown out of proportion," Carter told Kate Bolduan on "New Day," CNN's morning show. The brief interview marked Carter's first public comments since he was jailed in February.

Carter's case has received widespread media attention and alarmed free-speech activists. His arrest came amid heightened concerns over school violence since December's mass shootings at an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut.

An angry mob has set three suspected armed robbers ablaze in Ikotun, Lagos State. PUNCH Metro learnt on Thursday that the robbers were set on fire on Wednesday evening, shortly after robbing a recharge card trader at Second Junction bus stop on Governor’s Road. Our correspondent, who visited the area, observed burnt tyres, carcass of a burnt motorcycle and some human flesh on the side of the road.
The recharge card trader, Ese Akporhono, who had a bandage on her head, told our correspondent that the robbers came to her shop posing as customers. She said a few seconds later, the suspects pointed a gun at her and stole recharge cards worth N400,000 before fleeing. So sad that jungle justice is till going on in Nigeria. I got to know him many years ago when a petition was addressed to General Bamaiyi who was the then Chairman of the NDLEA. As you know, several efforts had been made by my detractors to bring me and my ministry down. One of those efforts was that petition. I was arrested for investigation and it was later discovered that it was a tissue of lies. I spent nine days with them for investigation and they found the whole thing to be a fabrication. From there, I was taken to Aso Rock (City of Power) to see the president. It was there that I met Mustapha.
